Viva Las Vegas - Part 3!
'…we had 3 deluxe VIP cabanas, an endless supply of frozen cocktails, bikini clad girls everywhere and great music to back it up!'
After coming back from a night out at around 5am, Jake, PKR's VIP Manager and I realised 40 PKR players were set to hit Las Vegas the next day for the best week of their lives. It was the start of the PKR WSOP Experience week! Every year PKR qualifiers come out to play in a $1,000 WSOP tournament surrounded by loads of wicked parties and events put on by the site. It's awesome, and this year was the best yet!
It started off that evening at the Caramel Bar inside Bellagio; we got to meet some familiar faces and also some new ones! But at usual we had a great bunch of people all eager to enjoy themselves and make the most of their time in Vegas! The night involved way too much Ro-Sham-Bo where money was changing hands quite frequently and the drinks were flowing with the open bar! Myself and a few of the players ended the evening with a meal at FIX, a great steak place where I went on to lose credit card roulette and had to pay for half the bill for 7 of us. It was a great meal, I'm just not sure it was worth that much!
The next day was used as a chill out day while the qualifiers started their quest at WSOP glory playing the $1K Event at the Rio Hotel and Casino. In the evening we had a PKR staff dinner at another one of my favourite places, Boa at Caesar's Palace. Following another immense steak, a few of us went over to Planet Hollywood to have some drunken times at the cash tables and ended the evening having a few back at 'our local', the amazing Chandelier Bar at the brand new Cosmopolitan hotel.
Sunday was easily one of the best days I spent out of the entire month I was in Vegas! It was our Vegas pool party; this year being held at the legendary David Guetta's 'F**K Me I'm Famous' party at Wet Republic at MGM! It was incredible! We had 3 deluxe VIP cabanas, endless supply of frozen cocktails, bikini clad girls everywhere and great music to back it up! We partied hard that day in the 40 degree heat and the massive swimming pool! That was until Vegas was hit with a tropical downpour! We rushed to shelter before grabbing a limo to take us back to the hotel looking like a bunch of drowned rats! A crazy end to an insane day.
Monday was the 4th of July, America's Independence Day. We had a huge area booked at Table 10 inside the Palazzo, all 70 staff members and players sat down for a traditional American meal - steak (again!) and apple pie. This was followed by the best night out of the trip; 20 of us went to Marquee nightclub, the hottest place in town. It was one of the busiest nights of the year and they gave us the Owners table- the best spot in the house! Words can't describe how good the night was! Topped off by a random billionaire sending countless bottles of $2000 Cristal champagne to our table for the hell of it! He is rumoured to have spent around $750,000 that night!
Coming to the end of the week meant only one thing, it was time for the annual PKR party! This year it was being held at the Revolution Bar inside the Mirage. It was a great bash filled with everyone we had shared the week with along with a lot of our favourite guests - top British and European poker players and gorgeous models! A free bar meant the drinks were flowing for anyone who could still drink after the previous nights out!
The final day was a tour of the Las Vegas strip and a chance to get those last minute souvenirs along with a visit to the designer outlet malls! I had my eye on some Nike's, but due to going a bit OTT during the week, I woke up to find I was too late and they had already left! So instead enjoyed a nice lie in to prepare myself for the final part of my Vegas adventure! From what I've heard, all the qualifiers will confirm they had a great time!
Next week: It's time for the Main Event!
