Scott's life as a poker pro
Back to England with a win!
It has now been over a month since I returned from Vegas, although most of that time has been spent wishing I was back there! I've been playing a lot of live poker lately with a bit of time off to celebrate my birthday.
Since the WSOP I have played in four live tournaments - not as glam as Las Vegas but they can't all be, can they, eh? On my first, I played and won a £250 buy-in tournament at the Full House Poker Club in Reigate. It was a small field with 70 players which was more than enough for a one day tournament. The final hand took place at sometime around 6am and I managed to ship the £5,000 first prize and the glory! :) I then went to exciting Luton to play the GUKPT festival. I played the £215 6-max tournament (only 6 players at each table, making the game quite fast with a lot of action). After a slow start I managed to get myself some chips and claim a 10th place finish for a small cash! I lost a crucial pot which could have given me a great shot at winning the tournament but it wasn't to be.
The next day I played the Main Event of the Luton festival which was a buy-in of £1000. I played really well and found a lot of big hands at the right time and managed to make it through the day comfortably above the average chip stack. When I returned the next day I found I would be sat at the Feature Table (the table picked to be live streamed over the internet) which I was quite pleased about until I noticed I had chip leader and friend of mine, Toby Lewis at the table with me. He was easily one of the best players in the tournament (he went on to finish 2nd for £40K). After a few hours, I got involved in a big pot which didn't go my way and that was me out the door in around 50th place.
From Luton to the Emerald Isle - This brings us up to the last weekend, Along with James Sudworth (a fellow Team PKR Pro) and a couple of regulars from the PKR site, we hopped on a plane over to Dublin to take part in the Unibet Open €1500 Main Event.
We flew out on the Thursday and after chucking the bags in the room and having a bite to eat, we ended up at the hotel bar drinking and gambling between ourselves (great preparation for the tournament the next day)! It might have been because of this that the day of the tournament I didn't feel too good and ended up busting out just after half way through the day.
The rest of the time in Ireland was spent prop betting and drinking (pretty much guaranteed in Dublin) and a random visit to a leprechaun museum where I happily purchased a lucky stone :)
Next up for me is European Poker Tour London, a tournament I can't wait to play! It will be my first EPT event along with the second biggest buy-in tournament behind the World Series! Something like £1 million to the winner would be splendid!
