He raps, acts, sings and now Ben Drew (aka Plan B) turns director throwing down with a gritty hip-hopera following the lives of two-bit gangsters, dealers, crack whores and wannabe hoodlums in East London's Forest Gate.
But is it a movie or an extended rap video? Plan B is the narrator whose lyrics from new album Ill Manors are expertly weaved into the story providing a raw beats and rough rhymes backdrop to the action. Bleak, but at times brilliant, and years in the making this labour of love echoes Gary Oldman's Nil By Mouth (starring Ray Winstone) in the downbeat stakes as a cracking ensemble cast of up and comers lead by Riz Ahmed from Four Lions deliver a film you'll be thinking about for weeks. Plan B... The boy done good.
