Swansea City Season Preview
With Phil Sumbler of Planetswans.co.uk
It's always difficult to gain anything by pre-season form, a tour of the US saw us win one, lose one, draw one so its pretty mixed but we have had three players away with TeamGB and that bits going OK!! Seriously though, you're asking a week too early - home games against Blackpool and Stuttgart may give us a better gauge.
What to look forward to from your club this season:
It's back to another season in the Premier League from our perspective as fans and we gained a lot of friends last year with our style so hope that that continues over the coming season. Also, I think it took a little while for us to find our feet last season so hopefully this time around we can kick on earlier.
What to worry about:
Everyone talks about second season syndrome but that's just a myth - isn't it?
Where are you going to finish?
As much as I'd like to say we'll go higher than last season, our 11th placed finish will be hard to top so I'm going for somewhere between 14th and 16th
Best/most outrageous transfer rumour
We were on th emerge of signing Messi but he didn't think he would displace Leon Britton. Seriously, we see endless transfer rumours all summer - Twitter has much to answer for - put a hashtag or a @ symbol and it must be true - mustn't it?
Manager right man for the job?
One of the best footballers of all time is now our manager. Of course it is very early days but you would like to believe he is the right man for the job
Player to look out for
Michu is one of the new signings and I think he is going to surprise a few this time around.
Dead wood you would get rid of?
Dead wood is a horrible statement to be making. Because we have had a quick rise to the top division every player has played his part in getting us there - no doubt there will be departures though but dead wood definitely isn't fair
Game of the season?
Last time around? Tricky to choose between the wins over Man City or Arsenal at the Liberty. I'm going to go for Arsenal purely because it was the day the pass masters were out passed by the new kids on the block
Best away day?
Tricky call again from last season as there were many good trips but the win at Aston Villa stands out as our first road success of the season although the point at Anfield was also a great day.
To Sir Alex at Old Trafford - "you're getting sacked in the morning" or to Rooney "Back to the brothel"
How good are your pies?
Simply, they're awful.
