Lincoln
Steven Spielberg is back and gunning for Oscar glory with a starry epic featuring two-time statuette winner Daniel Day Lewis as 16th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln. And no, he doesn't hunt vampires in this one.
Set at the height of America's Civil War in 1865 Lincoln is desperate to keep the country's Union intact and quell the Confederate rebels of the South... Meanwhile he clashes with members of his cabinet over the abolition of slavery. Featuring panoramic battle scenes, political intrigue and nail-biting drama we're looking forward to this one.
Lincoln was famous for his Gettysbug address speech of 1863, cited as the most quoted in American history, so who better to deliver a big screen history lesson than the director of classics like Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List?
Based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Lincoln's Union Army captain son, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, Jared Harris, David Oyelowo and Jackie Earle Hayley Lincoln is in UK cinemas January 25th 2013.
