Prometheus Blu-ray behind the scenes exclusive

Go behind the scenes with this exclusive clip from the Blu-ray with Charlize Theron wielding a flamethrower...

It might have left a few of you scratching your heads but Ridley Scott promises that the collectors edition - containing more than seven hours of bonus material including an alternate opening and ending with loads of deleted scenes and cast and crew commentaries - will provide the answers. Well, most of them. There's a sequel in the works!

Is it a prequel to Alien or, as Scott says, set in the same universe? It's actually both as the spectre of the 1979 sci-horror classic looms large throughout the multi-layered action played out in Prometheus. Face-huggers? Check. Chest busting alien spawn? Check. Creepy robot you can't quite trust? Check. In fact, Michael Fassbender steals the show as the android David programmed to follow his own mission come what may...
Amid the ear-shatteringly epic Inception-esque score, spiralling body count and eye-bogglingly deep 3D vistas of a brutal planet, where the crew of deep space scientists seek to discover the roots of mankind, you've got an Alien origin story. Borrowing liberally from Erich von Daniken's 1968 book Chariots of the Gods (which suggests our ancient cultures were shaped by contact with extra-terrestrials) Scott's film delivers big time on thrilling spectacle but frustratingly leaves many questions unanswered...
All the more reason to watch it again on Blu-ray or DVD and debate the meaning of a sequence of events that leave the sequel door wide open for more adventures with 'new Ripley' Noomi Rapace

Prometheus is available on Blu-ray and DVD from October 8th.
