Some readers of the Lee Child thrillers might be disappointed that the diminutive scientologist was chosen to play the righteous renegade (described in the books as 6' 5" tall with a 50" chest and dirty blonde hair) but we reckon the Cruiser has earned his action chops and showed with last year's Mission Impossible 4 that he's back on form.
Previously entitled One Shot (and based on that 2005 Jack Reacher adventure) the film sees Cruise's character up against a mysterious sniper targeting the innocent. Chaos ramps and confusion reigns as ex-cop Reacher is requested to be put on the case by the accused.
Written and directed by The Usual Suspects creator Christopher McQuarrie (who worked with Cruise on Ghost Protocol) and also starring Rosamund Pike, Jai Courtney (look out for him in Die Hard 5) and Robert Duvall (Apocalypse Now and The Godfather) Jack Reacher is in UK cinemas December 28th.
