DF - Jean-Alain Boumsong (joined Glasgow Rangers on a free, sold to Newcastle United for £8m) Rangers only had Boumsong for 18 games before United offered £8m for a player that cost them nothing at the start of the 2004-5 season. He did enough to contribute to a league title winning season for The Gers, but the centre back's stock dropped after a promising start at Newcastle. He was offloaded to Juventus for less than half his joining fee after only playing one full season at St James' Park.
