CHEF, ROYAL LOGISTICS CORP CHEF
Chefs in the Royal Logistic Corps are trained to prepare healthy and nutritious meals under supervision in both static and field kitchens. The Army wouldn’t be able to function without food and the chefs who prepare it, so a career as an Army chef will set you up with skills for life, feeding everyone from recruits to royalty.
You will have real pride in what you deliver, supporting the Army’s operations worldwide.
Recruits also receive paid-for training including recognised apprenticeships and BTECs and you could also qualify for a joining bonus. A catering training package with the Army involves unique challenges and variety that will set you up with a career for life.
Private Alan Urwin, 25, from Newcastle, is a Chef in the Royal Logistic Corps.
"After selection I went to Hampshire for 14 weeks for my basic training. Then I went to do my chef’s training. It’s a 20-week course and they teach you how to cook in outdoor field kitchens and in barracks. There’s also loads of variety and travel. The food is probably better than many get at home! There’s pasta, fish, omelettes and salad bars - so healthy food and lots of it!"
