INFANTRY - PARACHUTE REGIMENT
The Infantry plays a critical role wherever the Army is deployed around the world. As part of the Infantry you will be trained to operate worldwide as part of a powerful team, in a wide range of activities from peacekeeping, disaster relief and operations.
You will be trained in Infantry skills including teamwork and heightened awareness of the battlefield; attacking the enemy; defending yourself and your colleagues; and stealth and cunning, enabling you to patrol unseen using the latest in military equipment.
It is possible to join The Parachute Regiment, the Army's Airborne Infantry which requires soldiers to deploy quickly anywhere in the world, arriving before the heavier forces arrive.
Corporal Paul Dillaway, 25, from Bristol is a Section Commander in the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment
"I joined when I was 16 after I'd finished my GCSEs. I'm now a Section Commander, which means I'm in charge of a team of soldiers. It's a big responsibility. I get to wear a lot of hi-tech kit plus my training enables me to work under pressure and handle all sorts of situations."
Private Luke Hardy, 30, from Yorkshire is an Infantry Soldier in the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment
"I joined the Parachute Regiment as the selection process is tough but really develops your skills. There are lots of lads from different walks of life. We were the unit to go first into Afghanistan in 2006. I enjoy the challenge and the training is first-class."
