ROYAL SIGNALS

A career in telecommunications or IT with the Army gives you first class training and sought-after skills in an industry that is increasingly important in a digital age. In the Royal Signals you will be part of a team responsible for operating and maintaining the Army’s communication networks and information systems wherever they are based in the world.

Paid-for training in the Royal Signals includes apprenticeships and BTECs.

The Army will train you in an area of expertise and you could receive a one off joining bonus.

Lance Corporal John Robertson, 24, from Shipley is a Communication Systems Operator in the 216 (Parachute) Signal Squadron

"We look after all the kit the commanders will use to control the battle in its initial stages. As we work alongside the Parachute Regiment, we take the kit onto the plane and jump out with it at location, setting up whilst permanent headquarters are being built."

Lance Corporal John Conway, 25, from Shipley is a Systems Engineer Technician in the 216 (Parachute) Signal Squadron

"You get the opportunity to pick up a wide range of skills not just in communication, including being a leader and team-player, and you continue to learn - it keeps you fresh."
