Twenty of them…
1. It can’t possibly live up to the final of two years ago. It just can’t.
2. Everybody’s built it up as though it somehow still will, and it’s getting annoying.
Here’s the penalty shout-out from that match…
3. The commentary team will remind everyone of the 2005 final at every possible opportunity…
4. Almost definitely starting by pronouncing excitedly, “We’ve been here before!” immediately before kick off…
5. And continuing by setting the record for the number of times the word “revenge” is used in one TV broadcast…
6. Beating their own phrase, “that night in Istanbul” into second place.
7. And, if Rafa’s men lose, finishing by saying, “It’s been a Greek tragedy for Liverpool in Athens.”
8. The last big, showpiece final was horrible to watch….
9. And it was only last Saturday.
10. Liverpool aren’t even as good as either team that played in that.
11. Neither Liverpool nor AC Milan had to be champions to enter the tournament…
12. So why is it called the Champions League, then?
13. Peter Crouch will probably resurrect “The Robot” if he scores. (It was funny last year – it’s not anymore).
14. The diving.
15. The imaginary yellow cards.
16. The assumption on the part of the commentary team that being Italian and waving your arms around a lot somehow means you’re more technically gifted than any English player…
17. It doesn’t.
18. The over-the-top praise that will be given to everything Kaka does.
19. That irritating group bouncing up and down thing with the cup that the winning team always does.
20. Craig Bellamy.
Will you be watching? Tell us why or why not.
